New country, new life, new plan

Hey, I’m Gabriela. 38 years old, married to the love of my life, and mom to a toddler who has absolutely zero chill.

At the beginning of 2025, our little family packed everything up and moved to Belgium, my husband’s home country. And honestly? As scary as it sounds, it didn’t completely catch me off guard. I always had this feeling, somewhere deep down, that I would live abroad at some point in my life. So when the moment actually came, it was this strange mix of missing everything I was leaving behind, being terrified of the unknown, and feeling genuinely excited about what was ahead. All at the same time. Chaotic? Yes. But also kind of right.

At the end of last year, I came across a newsletter that said something that hit me like a truck: we need to move things, before things move us. Basically, don’t let others decide your fate. I remember reading that and just sitting with it for a moment.

And then, almost like the universe had a plan, I got laid off.

Here’s the thing. Leaving that job had been on my mind for a while. I wasn’t happy there. I felt undervalued and apathetic, quite the opposite of when I started. I knew something needed to change, I just never had the guts to pull the trigger myself. So life did it for me.

I still remember sitting there, listening to the words, and one thought cutting through everything else, loud and clear: this will never happen to me again.

And then the weeks that followed were heavy. I told myself I deserved to rest, and I did rest. Mostly on my phone, scrolling through nothing, hours disappearing without me really noticing. And somewhere underneath all that screen time, there was this fear creeping in. Was I actually resting, or was I just shutting down? I didn’t have much motivation to do anything, even though I knew I needed to move. It’s a weird place to be, knowing you should act but feeling completely stuck.

Why Financial Freedom Became My Only Goal

So this year, I’m doing things differently.

I started seeing all this content about building your own business, hitting 100k in revenue, creating something that’s actually yours. And I kept wondering, is this real? Can someone like me actually do this? Because for me, that number isn’t just a goal. It means financial freedom. It means proving to myself that I can get there. It means being able to provide for my family on my own terms, without waiting for someone else to decide my worth.

I decided to find out.

This blog is my experiment. I’m going to learn how to make this work, with affiliate links, digital products, and a whole lot of honesty along the way. I’ll also share bits of life here in Belgium, places I discover, things I find interesting, basically everything that’s part of this new chapter. And I’m going to document it all, because I have a feeling you might be in the same place I was.

Maybe you also feel like something needs to change. Maybe you have a dream you keep putting off. Maybe you just need someone to say, hey, let’s try this together.

That’s exactly what this is. I’m not here to teach you. I’m here to figure it out with you.

So what do you say, want to figure this out together?
